Update on New Site Features

If you're familiar with our old site you know that it served us well for the last three years; but the internet has changed drastically in those last three years.  Our new site will allow us to offer you ways to get connected and active that the old site couldn't offer.  To your right you can see three of them in action now; one is our a link to our new Facebook group.  With our Facebook group you'll be able to use the same site you've used to connect with old and current friends to also reach out to other Democrats in the area; it will be a place to discuss issues, and also to recruit new members into the party.

The second is our ActBlue thermometer; we've set a fundraising goal of $1000 this year, and ActBlue offers a great way to donate.  The party is able to use this feature for free, and with ActBlue you can setup recurring donations, eliminating the need to write and mail monthly donations.  I know that we all appreciate how important it is to continue to build on the success of 2008, and also that our current economic environment is one that has many of us greatly concerned and watching our finances; but I want to stress that even $5 a month can make a big difference.

Third, is our news feed, a RSS feed of Democratic and political news from around the web; it presents a mix of state and national topics that we hope you will find informative.  This is a feature of the site that will probably change on a regular basis so if you know of a site you'd like to see in the news feed please send an email to let us know.

There will be more features coming in the future; in the coming days we'll start to offer a collection of podcasts that will focus on important issues nationally.  While we will be starting with podcasts that are produced by other groups we will begin to publish podcasts created by members of the Cass County Democratic Party as well; we believe that offering a strong Democratic voice on local issues is essential, and are excited at the potential that comes with it.

So please stay tuned as we continue to add features, and let us know which one are favorites, and which ones you could do with out.

Thanks,

Matt
